About Leon Malmud:
Born in France in 1937, Leon was only a few years old when his parents were arrested by the Nazis in Occupied France in 1942. Neighbors Henri and Suzanne Ribouleau offered to watch Leon and his sister Rachel, thinking it would only be a few days until they returned. However, the parents never returned and the Ribouleau family risked their own safety to protect the two young Jewish children.
Leon immigrated to the United States in 1964 and currently resides in South Lake Tahoe. After 60 years of total silence about his childhood in World War II, he decided to write and publish his memoir "We Survived....At Last, I Speak." Leon shares his story of heroism and survival in middle and high schools, colleges, universities, community centers and book clubs across the United States, Europe and South America.
